Resources for addressing climate change in the northeast

Brought to our attention this week are two reports that should help guide discourse and action on the effects of climate change in the northeastern United States.
CROSS BORDER INDICATORS OF CLIMATE CHANGE OVER THE PAST CENTURY: NORTHEASTERN UNITED STATES AND CANADIAN MARITIME REGION
This 40-page report is intended as a baseline, setting out the current state of understanding and the most commonly used
data for understanding climate changes in the Gulf of Maine watershed and region. The report chronicles data for ten separate indicators, including temperature, precipitation, snowfall, lake and river ice, growing season, sea-surface temperature and sea-level rise. The report, produced by the Climate Change Task Force of the Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment (GOMC) in cooperation with Environment Canada and Clean Air-Cool Planet, is available at the Gulf of Maine Council website.
CLIMATE CHANGE IN THE U.S. NORTHEAST
The Northeast Climate Impacts Assessment addresses climate change and associated impacts on key climate-sensitive sectors in the northeastern United States. Its goal is to provide a solid scientific footing for making informed choices about climate change mitigation and adaptation. The study is available at Northeast Climate Impacts website.
